Grant budget lines that invite queries

Programme guidance is usually precise about eligible costs and vague about how those costs should look on a page. That gap is where queries grow.

Personnel rows attract attention when headcount hours exceed the project calendar, or when senior titles appear without matching salary evidence. Equipment lines invite questions when unit prices float far above local quotations without a procurement note. Contingency is safest when it is small, labelled, and tied to named residual risks—not used as a quiet reserve for undefined work.

In our grant pack financial checks, we ask applicants to attach one supporting document for every material line above a threshold they choose with us—often NT$50,000. The exercise feels slow on day one and shortens programme correspondence later. If a line cannot be evidenced, it usually does not belong in the submission.
